Edmonton Oilers vs. Kölner Haie
On october 3rd my team the Edmonton Oilers play an exhibition game in Cologne Germany against the Kölner Haie. For me personally it’s gonna be a very special event as I was born and raised in cologne, my family lives in Cologne and I learned my first steps on the ice here in Cologne! Even better, my dad is the head coach of the Kölner Haie, the team we will play against. It’s gonna be a very special night for me and my whole family and I think our whole team is looking forward to spend some time together in Europe.
After our game in Cologne we will start our regular season with a game in Gothenburg against the New Jersey Devils. I’m super excited to start the new season here in Europe .

My experince at the World Championship in russia 2016
After my NHL season I said yes to playing for team gemany at the world championship in Russia. We played really good hockey throughout the tournament and made it to the quarter finals where russia beat us 1:4. Its always fun to play an international tournaments like that, the best players of the world play against each other.
The 2015-2016 season didn’t start the way I wanted
The 2015-2016 season didn’t start the way I wanted it to start, before the season I was the last guy to get cut from the Edmonton Oilers. I was very disappointed of course but worked hard on my game in the AHL and then after 6 games in the minors I got called up to the NHL. The coaches really believed in me and gave me a great chance to play with some really good players! It was a really fun year we had a great group of guys but of course we all wish we would’ve made the playoffs. We’re gonna come back stronger next year and hopefully we can be a playoff team next season!
All in all it was a very fun and successfull season!
I cant wait for the next hockey season to start
A Dream COMES TRUE
August 13th was a really special day for me! I signed my first 3 year NHL entry-level contract with the Edmonton Oilers. I wanna thank everyone who helped me along the way so far, and hopefully I can sign many more contacts!
The 5 days in philadelphia were a lot of fun! I got to see a lot of cool things, Philadelphia is a city with quite a bit of history! The 27th was really nervcracking, it was a great event!
My whole family was there! I was so happy and excited when I heard my name called by the Edmonton Oilers! I´m really proud and it is a big honor for me to be part of such an amazing organization.
Ice Hockey World Championship Minsk 2014
The World Championship was a great experience for me! It was the first time playing against men for me so it was really helpful.
Preparations Ice Hockey World Championship Minsk 2014
The National Team coach invited me to 2 exhibition games against France. There I had two assits. It was a huge honor to wear the National Team jersey for the men the first time, especially as an 18 year old it’s something special! I was a little bit nervous before the first game to be honest! Against Finnland we lost both games but played pretty good. The next 2 games were against Russia. They had one of the biggest stars in hockey right now on their team! Alexander Ovechkin.
It was such a great experience to play against a star like him. We lost the first game but won the second game 3:0. It’s a great experience to play against Pro’s. The next 2 games are going to be against Switzerland and USA. After the last game the team is going to travel to Belarus, Minsk. And hopefully we can be successful at the world championship.
Prince Albert Raiders
Our team made the playoffs for the second straight year: This year we had to play a tie-breaker game against the Red Deer Rebels, because Red Deer and us had the same amount of points, so whoever wins the tie-breaker game gets the 8th and final playoff spot. After 2 periods my team was down 3-2. But in the third period our team played really well and we beat them 5-3. I had the assist on our 3rd goal and our 4th goal. Everyone was really really excited that we made the playoffs.
In the playoffs we faced the Edmonton Oil Kings, they were the best team in the Eastern conference. Right now they are in the WHL finals against Portland. We played some good hockey against Edmonton in the playoffs. Every game was really close and could have went either ways! At the end they beat us 4-0 in games and it’s tough to say but they just were the better team. Playoffs are definitely the most fun time of the year. The fans are just going crazy. It’s always fun to be in the playoffs.
World U-20 Junior Championship in Malmoe, Sweden
Every year around Christmas time there is the U-20 world Championship. This year it was in Sweden, Malmoe. For me personally the tournament wasn’t the best I faced some adversity, because I got kicked out of a game due to a penalty I took. Anyways, we (Team Germany) managed to stay in the Top-Division for the 2nd straight time. We played a best-of-three series against Norway. We lost game 1. But then we beat them twice so we remained in the Top-Division! It was successful for us!

Leon Draisaitl 2013-2014 WHL Highlights
It was a really successful season for me personally, we had a good team and I really liked all of the boys. I played a lot and I was one of the leaders on the team, it was a huge honor for me. I was the assistant captain as well! Obviously there were some up’s and down’s over that season as well which is normal in a hockey season! I had the most points as a raider in at least 18 years with 105 in 64 games. It was a real fun season and I’m never gonna forget about it.
